The commander of the Western Mindanao (Westmincom) on Saturday ordered all its units to secure the vaccines and health workers during the three-day National Vaccination Days.
“We will make sure that the vaccines are delivered safe and on time to the vaccination centers. Further, I would like to encourage our Kababayans to take advantage of this ‘Bayanihan, Bakunahan’ campaign and support the vaccination effort of the government,” Maj. Gen. Alfredo Rosario Jr. said in a statement.
“Rest assured that the military is in full alert to thwart any terror ploy of the threat groups in the region to ensure everyone’s safety and security,” Rosario added.
He also assured the availability of land, air, and sea assets to facilitate the transport of vaccines to the Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Central Mindanao, and parts of Northern Mindanao and Soccsksargen.
Westmincom facilitated the transport of 29 boxes of vaccines from this city to Jolo, Sulu Friday via the C295 aircraft of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) in preparation for the three-day National Vaccination Days from November 29 to December 1.
The vaccines were transported here from Manila onboard a commercial plane earlier. They were picked up by personnel from the Ministry of Health in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MOH-BARMM) together with the troops from Joint Task Force Zamboanga.
“The vaccines were then loaded on the C295 aircraft and transported to Jolo, Sulu,” Rosario said.
Juli-Ian Sangkula, Sulu Integrated Provincial Health Office technical operations chief, received the vaccines upon arrival at the Jolo airport.
Sangkula said in a statement the vaccines will be distributed to the different vaccination centers in the provinces of Sulu before the start of the national vaccination days. (PNA)
