A fisherman in Surigao del Sur has a new house, thanks to the members of the Hinatuan Municipal Police Station (HMPS).
Lt. Dennis Bon, HMPS chief, said the rebuilding of the house is part of the Barangayanihan Help and Food Bank Program and Adopt a Family Program of the Philippine National Police (PNP), all aimed at supporting families affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
“We formally turned over the newly rebuilt house of Mr. and Mrs. Diosdado Chavez Saratao on Thursday in Purok 4, Barangay La Casa, Hinatuan,” Bon said in a statement Friday.
Barangay La Casa is among the coastal villages in Hinatuan that are inhabited mostly by fisherfolk.
“Through the assistance of our stakeholders and the dedication of our advocacy support groups, anything is possible,” Bon said. “The HMPS also expressed appreciation to the participating advocacy support groups for their compassionate act for the grantee and will continue to work with them to help in any way possible.”
Based on the report of the Municipal Health Office, most of the Covid-19 cases in Hinatuan are in Barangay La Casa.
