The Philippine Red Cross’ (PRC) M/V PRC Amazing Grace sailed to Catanduanes on Wednesday to deliver relief assistance to typhoon victims.

In his Twitter post on Wednesday, PRC chairman and chief executive officer, Sen. Richard Gordon said that the M/V PRC Amazing Grace is on its first humanitarian mission.

“Amazing Grace is to deliver 1,000 kitchen sets, 1,000 jerry cans or water containers, 1,000 hygiene kits, and 1,000 sets of non-food items. It will also bring to Catanduanes two additional vehicles for better delivery of service and assistance – a minivan and a Willy jeep,” Gordon said.

The ship also brought sleeping mats, GI sheets to help families rebuild their houses destroyed by the typhoon, and jerry cans or water containers that will be distributed to the whole province.

He added that this is to keep the torch of hope burning for typhoon victims especially at this time of the year when Christmas is just around the corner.

“Ito ay bilang tugon sa mga pangangailangan ng mga pamilya at komunidad na lubhang naapektuhan ng bagyo upang sila ay makabangong muli at mabigyan ng pag-asa (This is in response to those families and communities in need and badly affected by the typhoon to help them recover and give them hope). Red Cross will always be there to help and deliver,” Gordon said.

He added that the PRC is committed to delivering services to the most vulnerable sectors, either by land and even by sea. (PNA)
