After years of being a vegan, Miley Cyrus quits the vegan lifestyle as she battles with health issues.
The 27-year-old singer announced it on the “Joe Rogan Experience podcast, saying she has been a vegan for a very long time but has to stop because her brain “wasn’t functioning properly”.
“I was vegan for a very long time and I’ve had to introduce fish and omegas into my life because my brain wasn’t functioning properly,” she said.
She further described the experience as “running on empty” when she performed at the Glastonbury music festival in 2019.
“I remember going to Glastonbury [music festival] and that was a show that I loved—I loved my performance—but I was running on empty,” she told the host.
Because of this, Cyrus had no choice but stop her plant-based diet and eat fish for the first time in years.
“My ex-husband cooked me some fish on the grill.” She added, “I cried, like, for a long time. I cried for the fish … it really hurts me to eat fish.”
Despite her distaste, the ‘Midnight Sky’ singer admitted that she noticed positive changes when she revamped her diet and lifestyle.
“Now I’m so much sharper than I was and I think that I was, at one point, pretty malnutritioned.”
Prepared to face the hate she might receive from vegans, Cyrus defended, “I have 22 animals on my farm in Nashville, I’ve got 22 in my house in Calabasas, I’m doing all I need to do for the animals.”
Miley Cyrus has been maintaining a plant-based diet from 2013 to 2019.
