Fans pour tribute to the “Mother of Indomie” as Nunuk Nuraini passed away at the age of 59 on Wednesday, January 27.

“Ibu Hajjah Nunuk Nuraini has passed away and returned peacefully to God,” stated Indofood spokesperson Nurlita Novi Arlaida in Kompas Indonesian newspaper. However, the company didn’t disclose the cause of Nuraini’s death.

Nuraini worked as a flavor development manager and became the inventor of many flavors of Indomie instant noodles will be remembered by many grown-ups as she worked from the same company for 30 years.

Citing the report from Kompas, Nuraini had also worked on various Indomie flavors, including the popularized soto, rendang, sambal matah, and chicken curry. The ‘Mi Goreng’ flavor was launched in 1982 after the 1971 Indomie’s chicken flavor.

From many flavors of Indomie’s noodles, ‘Mi Goreng’ stands out, which is why many consumers thanked her legacy and said that “it will remain deeply in our hearts.”

One of the Mi Goreng’s fans expressed his condolences and wrote on twitter, “We just lost Mrs. Nunuk Nuraini, the genius flavor developer of people’s beloved instant noodles ‘Indomie’ today. May her soul rest in love and her legacies will definitely forever live on. You are truly a legend for indonesians.” pic.twitter.com/IDn8M682a2

Twitter user @gustirapi also marked, “Indonesia should have been the proudest country for a long time to acclaim Indomie as their best product to date,” his tweet seen earlier this January.

Another one also wrote saying, “RIP Nunuk Nuraini our hero that saves us on the midnight,” Punch Lines (@SovietAntiLGBT) user last tweet on January 28, 2021.

Indomie recently released its new BBQ version of ‘Mi Goreng’ with its own pocket of potato chips.
