Before the passing of “Black Panther” star Chadwick Boseman, production for its sequel has already been planned out, with its release date being on May 6, 2022.

The 43-year-old actor was supposed to prepare by September this year. Unfortunately, he has succumbed to colon cancer after battling it for four years.

Amid the circumstances, sources say that Disney is ‘not focused’ on how productions will resume for the movie as they are still mourning Boseman’s death. However, along with Marvel, they are coming up with ways on how they will carry on without the lead actor. And this involves a major reformatting and rewriting of the storyline.

According a source, unofficial plans for King T’Challa includes dying off-screen. There will be no recasting as it will definitely garner massive backlash. As of now, fans and reports suggest that his sister, Shuri (Letitia Wright), take the mantle and take over as the new protector of Wakanda, as seen in the comics.

Additional announcements on what to expect about the highly anticipated movie have yet to be released. One thing’s for sure though, is that the production will give tribute to Boseman, who has inspired millions of fans across the globe through his character.

“Black Panther” (2018) was the first ever superhero film and MCU film that was nominated and receive an Academy Award. The box office hit grossed a total of $1.347 billion with a budget of $200 million. It is the highest grossing superhero movie as of writing.
