Seniors in the province of Antique may still avail of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccination in the coming days after the one-day nationwide “Bayanihan, Bakunahan” on Monday.

“Seniors who were not able to avail of the special Covid-19 vaccination today may still avail our other vaccination campaigns for their protection,” Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) information officer Irene Dulduco said in an interview Monday.

The “Bayanihan, Bakunahan” for senior citizens started from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Binirayan Gymnasium in San Jose de Buenavista or at the designated vaccination sites in the municipalities.

“The special Covid-19 vaccination was conducted only to enable other elderlies who have difficulty in joining our regular Covid-19 drive to avail of the vaccine,” Dulduco said.

She said they are still in the process of consolidating the number of seniors who had been vaccinated in Monday’s activity.

“There were also MHOs (municipal health officers) who conducted house-to-house vaccination especially for those bedridden elderlies who were not able to come to the designated vaccination sites,” she added.

In a separate interview, IPHO nurse Sheree Vego said their targeted population of seniors for vaccination is 62,029 where 30,205 had already been inoculated with the first dose, leaving them with 31,824 who are yet to get vaccinated.

Also, 27,833 availed of their second dose and 2,281 of booster based on the January 30 IPHO report.

“The activity today was launched for seniors who were still unvaccinated as well as those who had already received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine, but not yet their second dose and booster,” she added. (PNA)
