Seeking to regain public trust, the Tacurong City government has strengthened its traffic force by retraining and recruiting more honest enforcers, Mayor Angelo Montilla said Tuesday.

“The current enforcers have undergone strict screening process and were chosen based their previous commendable performance as traffic enforcers,” Montilla said.

In 2019, the city of Tacurong only had about a dozen traffic enforcers manning the streets. He said successful applicants were rehired by the City Human Resource Management Office to attend training and seminars by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Region 12.

“A final test was administered to determine who will become part of the final roster,” the mayor said.

The local government deputized 23 new traffic enforcers in a ceremony led by Montinola on Monday. Montilla encouraged the enforcers to serve with integrity in order to turn the public’s disdain to that of trust and respect to the city’s traffic unit.

LTO-12 Director Macario D. Gonzaga who attended the event brought with him 16 traffic enforcers from the regional office to brief and orient the new traffic enforcers on the field.

The newly deputized traffic enforcers were immediately deployed to the streets to implement existing traffic laws and ordinances of the city.

Montilla warned the enforcers against the mulcting of motorists who violate the traffic laws. (PNA)
