As the nation observes the 83rd anniversary of the Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) on Wednesday, Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. called on all Filipinos to rise to the challenge of nation-building.

Teodoro made the call as he extended his sincere gratitude and respect to all veterans, soldiers, and every Filipino who continues to show courage and patriotism.

“Yet beyond remembrance, this day calls upon each of us to rise to the challenge of nation-building – to contribute to the continued progress, peace, and security of our beloved country,” he said in a statement.

Teodoro urged the public to draw strength from the legacy of bravery and heroism exemplified by all Filipino veterans in these uncertain times.

He likewise reminded all Filipinos to “stand united in purpose and resolve.”

“As we commemorate Araw ng Kagitingan, we remember the bravery of those who fought and sacrificed their lives for our country. Their heroism is etched in our nation’s history, a powerful reminder of what it means to be truly Filipino,” he said, noting that the DND remains committed to honoring the legacy of Filipino veterans and protecting the country’s future.
