Registration is now open for the 28th Siargao International Surfing Cup, set Oct. 26 to Nov. 4 at the popular Cloud 9 surfing site in General Luna, Surigao del Norte.

“We’re excited to announce that entries are officially open for the much-awaited 28th Siargao International Surfing Cup,” Surigao del Norte 1st District Rep. Francisco Jose Matugas II said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

Registration will be accepted until Oct. 1, with organizers expecting top surfers from the Philippines and around the world to join the competition.

The event is part of the World Surf League Qualifying Series (QS) 5000 and is co-sanctioned by the Australia/Oceania region, giving it international prestige.

In June, the Department of Tourism in Caraga Region announced a PHP2 million allocation from the central office in support of the event.

The funding will cover competition expenses and help promote the event.
