Still able to raise the Philippine flag during an international competition, Filipino pool player Roland Garcia successfully clinched second place during the recent Medalla Light Puerto Rico Open.

On November 11, Garcia fought Polish athlete Konrad Juszczyszyn during the finals round as they fought for the silver medal or second-place title, who would receive recognition and a cash prize of over $17,500 during the competition.

Despite the defeat of the Polish pool player, the Filipino athlete was still able to showcase his skills and fought until the end, presenting an outstanding performance during their match compared to his last competition.

Garcia also showed exceptional play during the semi-finals, as he swept his contenders with 4-2 and 4-1 scores, which escalated him to the championship round.

Along with Garcia were Filipino athletes such as Chezka Centeno and Rubilen Amit, who also showcased exceptional skill during their designated brackets as they advanced up until the quarterfinals.

Roland Garcia defeats Joshua Filler in a dominating fashion, 2 sets to none, 4-2, 4-1, in the semi-finals to move a win away from capturing the 2023 Medalla Light Puerto Rico Men’s 10-Ball Open title.
