Not just one, but thirteen! The Philippine team literally aced the recently held Asian Pencak Silat Championships, gathering gold and bronze recognitions.

The Philippine Pencak Silat Team had a medal haul, claiming two gold, five silver, and eight bronze medals.

The two gold medals were clinched by athletes Jeremae Beato and Mitz Jude Jalandoni in the Ganda (Double) Female Category, while Mary Justine Acat also aced the Tanding (Match/Combat) Open Weight 2 Female Category.

For the silver medal, Almohadib, Alfau Jan Abad, Zandro Fred Jizmundo Jr., Rick Rod Ortega, James El Mayagma, Shara Julia Jizmundo, Jessa Dela Cruz, Franchette Anne Elman, Dines Dumaan, and Rogielyn Parado competed for the Ganda (Double) Male, Regu (Trio) Male, Regu (Trio) Female, and Tanding (Match/Combat) Category.

Last but definitely not least were the bronze medalists, who were clinched by Edmar Tacuel, Jasper Jay Lachica, Gregmart Benitez, Alvin Campos, Hanna Mae Ibutnande, Maricel Dela Torre, and Angel-Ann Singh in their respective categories.

“Congratulations on the remarkable achievement of the Philippine Pencak Silat team at the Pencak Silat Asian Championships in Dubai! The dedication and hard work of our athletes shine through with 2 golds, 5 silvers, and 6 bronzes,” Sulu Sultan Princess Jacel Kiram said on her Facebook account.

The 7th Asian Pencak Silat Championships gathered almost 500 athletes from 18 countries to perform the Pencak Silat, which is a known collective term for indigenous martial arts that originated during the 6th century.
