President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Sunday celebrated the achievements of Filipino students excelling in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and vowed that his administration will continue to invest in and support innovation and technology.

In his weekly vlog posted on social media, Marcos expressed pride on Filipino students who bagged awards in international STEM competitions.

The President underscored the critical role of STEM education in the modern technological landscape, citing its application to almost every facet of human life.

“Mahalaga ‘yan dahil ang STEM subjects ang pinagbabasehan ngayon ng lahat bagong teknolohiya. Alam naman natin na ang lahat ng buhay natin ay dumarami ang involvement ng bagong teknolohiya (That is important because STEM subjects are now the basis of all new technologies. We know that in our lives, we are increasingly reliant with new technology),” Marcos said.

“Para magamit natin ‘yung mga bagong teknolohiya na ‘yan kailangan ay sanay na sanay tayo, nakaka-unawa tayo sa scientific studies at saka Mathematics para tayo ay makikilahok sa bagong ekonomiya ng mundo (In order for us to use those new technologies, we need to be very skilled, we should be able to understand scientific studies and Mathematics so that we can participate in the new world economy).”

Marcos vowed that the government will continue STEM education to empower the next generation of innovators, ensuring that the Philippines remains competitive in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.

“Sa isang Bagong Pilipinas, patuloy ang pagpapatatag ng pundasyon para sa siyensiya at teknolohiya. Patuloy ang inobasyon dahil kaalaman ang ating sandata tungo sa isang maunlad at makabagong Pilipinas (In the New Philippines, the foundation for science and technology continues to be strengthened. Innovation will be supported because knowledge is our weapon towards a prosperous and modern Philippines),” he said. (PNA)
