This town is taking the lead in the number of residents inoculated against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Mayor Enrico Roque said in a phone interview on Monday that 85 percent of the population here has been vaccinated, the highest percentage among the local government units (LGUs) in the province and the third in the entire Central Luzon.

Roque, however, clarified that 85 percent of the population only received the first dose while those fully vaccinated comprised 42 percent.

“Muli, pasasalamat po ang aking nais iparating sa lahat ng Pandieño sa inyong patuloy na pakikiisa at suporta sa ating panawagan para magpabakuna (Again, I would like to extend my thanks to all Pandieño for their continuous cooperation and support to our call for vaccination,” the mayor said.

Meanwhile, 60 percent of the youths aged 12-17 were inoculated in just a week since the start of the vaccination for minors.

Roque expressed optimism that this town will soon achieve the desired population protection against Covid-19.

It was learned that the local government of Pandi was able to vaccinate up to 2,200 people per day, which is more than the DOH’s 1,950 daily target.

The mayor said the rapid vaccination rollout in this town is also attributed to the help and support of the city governments in Metro Manila.

He likewise cited the efforts of the front-liners from the Municipal Health Office, barangay captains, Sangguniang Bayan members, barangay health workers, volunteers, and the private sector. (PNA)
