The vaccination rollout in Maguindanao has been doing well, with over 60,000 persons now fully protected against Covid-19, a health official said Thursday.
The fully vaccinated persons belong to the A1 (health front-liners), A2 (senior citizens) and A3 (persons with comorbidities) groups, the Integrated Provincial Health Office reported.
Dr. Elizabeth Samama, provincial health officer, said the vaccination rollout in all 36 municipalities and several other vaccination sites in the area has been going on smoothly to date.
“I would like to commend everyone, front-liners, medical practitioners, women and men in uniform, the local officials, and the recipients of immunization for their cooperation,” she said in a phone interview.
Samama said more doses of AstraZeneca vaccine were on the way to Maguindanao provincial hospital and these are intended for use by police and soldiers assigned in the province.
Samama said policemen and soldiers have been manning quarantine checkpoints and are helping maintain order at vaccination sites.
To date, she said the province has received more than 130,000 vials of Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Janssen and Pfizer jabs.
Maguindanao has some 1.3 million population based on the 2020 census conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority in the BARMM. (PNA)
