Over 216,000 local and overseas job vacancies in some of the country’s top companies will be featured on the 123rd Labor Day Nationwide Job Fairs to be held on May 1, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said on Monday.

In a statement, DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said some 216,144 employment opportunities, including 181,933 local vacancies and 34,211 overseas jobs, are up for grabs from 2,281 participating employers in the 69 job fair sites all over the country.

He said the initiative with the private sector to bring thousands of local and overseas opportunities to Filipino job seekers reaffirms DOLE’s “dedication to connecting available talent with opportunities in the labor market.”

The top five regions with the most job offers are the National Capital Region with over 63,000; Central Luzon with around 32,000; Calabarzon with over 18,000; Western Visayas with nearly 18,000; and the Zamboanga Peninsula with more than 13,000.

Among the vacancies to be offered are from the manufacturing, retail, business process outsourcing (BPO), accommodation/food service activities, and financial/insurance industries.

Top vacancies include production operators, sales clerks, call center representatives, service crews, and microfinance officers, according to DOLE.

Interested applicants may reach their nearest Public Employment Services Office (PESO) or DOLE regional or field offices to access the full list of venues, participating employers, and available job roles.

The job fairs will be mounted as a special activity across all regions dedicated to the Filipino workers and job seekers, which is in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to make job fairs a regular nationwide initiative. (PNA)
