The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on Wednesday urged Negrenses to support homegrown cocopreneurs in this year’s Negros Coco Expo, with 23 coconut-based micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) taking part.

The event’s third edition, held from Dec. 2 to 6 at SM City Bacolod Main Atrium, features a wide selection of coco-derived products, including food and beverages, natural beauty and wellness items, handicrafts, and other sustainable goods.

DTI-Negros Occidental Provincial Director Lynna Joy Cardinal said that more than just a trade fair, the Negros Coco Expo is “a convergence of minds and efforts under the Coconut Philippines banner of progress.”

“It is a testament to the resilience and commitment of coconut farmers who work tirelessly and to the innovativeness of processors in producing food and non-food coconut-based items,” Cardinal said in a statement.

“Visit the Expo and support the homegrown cocopreneurs who continue to drive innovation and growth in the local coconut sector,” she added.

The DTI is also showcasing its shared service facilities (SSF) program, wherein 18 SSF cooperators are presenting products developed through shared access to modern equipment, tools, and technical training.

Through the SSF program, the agency assists in enhancing production efficiency, improving product quality, and strengthening the competitiveness of small enterprises across the province.

In a separate statement, Department of Agriculture-Negros Island Region OIC-Regional Executive Director Jose Albert Barrogo lauded the DTI for actively supporting the local coconut industry.

“This expo is not just a celebration of products, but a celebration of the lives and aspirations of our coconut farmers and MSMEs. Through innovation, elevation, and transformation, we can open greater opportunities for every community in the region,” he added.

The 2025 Negros Coco Expo is themed “Innovate, Elevate, Transform: Unlocking Opportunities for Coconut Industry Stakeholders.” (PNA)
