A wish has a transformative power to improve a child’s quality of life and serve as a catalyst to better health. Research shows that when a wish is granted, a child replaces fear with confidence, sadness with joy, and anxiety with hope. Anchoring on this, MaxiLife partnered with Make-A-Wish Philippines for the second consecutive year to give joy and bring smiles to eight brave children and their families in a wish granting event.

Held recently at the Hard Rock Cafe Manila in Pasay City, volunteers from MaxiLife and Make-A-Wish prepared a fun-filled afternoon with games and arts and crafts activities for the wish kids where they were able to make new friends and create unforgettable memories with each other. The attendees were also surprised with a heartfelt acoustic performance by Mr. Rox Puno that added more magic to an already amazing day.

“Today is a celebration of love and family. For me, love is the heartbeat of everyone coming together for a meaningful day like this with a purpose,” said Ms. Maffy Batungbacal, Chief People Officer of MaxiLife. “At the same time, this is an avenue of awareness for our growing community of ways they can lend a helping hand to those who need it, especially children.”

“We are happy to have partnered with MaxiLife again in granting the wishes of these children and becoming a vessel of a life-changing moment in their lives,” said Ms. Aleah Ortiz, Executive Director of Make-A-Wish Philippines.

Ena, the oldest Wish kid among the group, expressed her gratitude to MaxiLife and Make-A-Wish for granting her wish of a portable keyboard: “Today is a very happy day because one of my ultimate wishes and prayers in life unexpectedly came true and I also met new friends. I became more confident in myself knowing that despite being sick, I can still do the things that make me happy.”

“This was a great event for kids like my son because they are able to just enjoy and be in the moment, forgetting the stresses that they experience every day. I am very thankful because you made that happen,” said Judith, mother of 3-year-old Wish kid, Naru.

Through this initiative, MaxiLife is also able to highlight its objective as a life insurance company of encouraging preparedness and promoting awareness of such unexpected critical illnesses so that the insured person and their family would be free of financial burden and be able to focus more on recovery.

“Our purpose is to allow every single Filipino to live their lives to its fullest potential with confidence that they are financially protected in every step against life’ uncertainties,” said Batungbacal.
