The city government of Manila will launch its pediatric vaccination against the coronavirus for children 5 to 11 years old on February 4.

Manila Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso, in a Facebook live past midnight Thursday, announced that the city government is planning to hold the pediatric vaccination for the younger age group at the newly rehabilitated Manila Zoo and at the Bagong Ospital ng Maynila.

“Tapos na ‘yung plano. Confirmed na tayo na we are ready. Aantabayanan na lang natin na hopefully dumating ‘yung Pfizer o ‘yung bakuna para sa (We are done with the planning. It is confirmed that we are ready. We will just wait for the arrival of the Pfizer vaccine for the) 5 to 11 years old by February 2. Please save the date, February 4,” Domagoso said.

He assured that as the vaccination program for the younger age group continues, the vaccination sites would be expanded to reach more children, making it easier for parents and guardians to bring them to the hubs.

Parents and guardians should register the children through www.manilacovid19vaccine.ph.

As of Jan. 26, a total of 11,281 minors aged 5 to 11 years old and 186,302 aged 12 to 17 have registered to receive the Covid-19 jabs, according to the Manila Public Information Office.

Domagoso urged Manila residents to continue being vigilant as the threat of Covid-19 still exists even as the number of infections in the city is on a downward trend.

The city recorded 291 new Covid-19 cases as of Jan. 26, bringing the total number of active cases to 1,496. (PNA)
