The PHP20-million housing village dedicated to indigenous people (IP) in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, is in its final stages of completion, with subsequent phases of related projects already in development.

“These final units represent the last phase of the 80-unit IP housing project, a collaborative effort being implemented through a Tripartite Memorandum of Agreement (MOA),” the City Urban Development and Housing Division (CUDHD) of the Malaybalay City said in a statement on Wednesday.

The MOA, signed in 2024, involved the City Government of Malaybalay, the National Housing Authority (NHA), and the Daraghuyan Bukidnon Tribe Ancestral Domain. The housing village is situated in Barangay Dalwangan.

In parallel efforts to support the community, the local government has also conducted the third phase of the Daraghuyan participatory water resource assessment. This initiative aims to address the community’s critical need for a reliable and potable water system.

The next phase of this water project will involve implementing interventions to help the Daraghuyan tribe secure a clean and sustainable water source, which is essential for their health and overall well-being. (PNA)
