KidZania Manila, handled by ABS-CBN Corporation, announced that it will be permanently closing down after months of shutdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic effective August 31.
According to a statement they released on Wednesday, the amusement park wrote that their suspension of operations in compliance to the community quarantine has created a “massive impact” to their revenues.
“Even if we are allowed to operate in the future, the ‘new normal’ will prohibit mass gatherings and require children to remain at home,” it explained. “These conditions have left us with no choice but to close the play city’s doors permanently.”
During this difficult time, the company assured that they aided their employees by allocating severance benefits as well as job placement programs.
“Lastly, we salute our Kals―the Generation KidZania―who have spent time with us with unrelenting passion and spirit, which we hope they will keep alive as they face the future and build a better world,” the statement ended.
KidZania Manila is a theme park founded at Park Triangle in Bonifacio Global City. It offers over sixty interactive activities that help kids explore interests and life skills.
Launched on August 7, 2015, KidZania Manila will officially mark its fifth year next month. It suspended operations on March 11 and will permanently close on August 31.
