Malacañang on Monday reaffirmed the Marcos administration’s commitment to improving food accessibility and affordability, as it welcomed the latest expansion of the Kadiwa ng Pangulo Program, which may reach 1,500 stores nationwide by 2028.

In a Palace press briefing, Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro highlighted the significance of the recent agreement between the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost), which will scale up the presence of Kadiwa stores across the country.

Under the agreement, the DA will ensure the availability of safe and quality agricultural products while PHLPost will provide operational spaces and facilities in its post office branches nationwide.

“Ibig sabihin, mula sa anim na post office na dati nang nag-host ng Kadiwa pop-up stores, palalawakin na ito sa 67 post office sa Metro Manila at iba pang bahagi ng Luzon, Visayas at Mindanao (Meaning, from six post offices hosting Kadiwa pop-up stores, it will be expanded to 67 post offices in Metro Manila and other areas in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao),” Castro said.

She said the partnership brings benefits not only to consumers but also to PHLPost workers and local communities.

“Nakikita natin na malaking tulong ito hindi lang sa postal workers kundi sa buong komunidad na nasasakupan ng mga post office (We see this as a big help not only to postal workers but to the entire community within the post office area),” she added. (PNA)
