Today, we honor those brave and selfless healthcare workers, who, despite knowing full well the risks, still continued to render countless hours of medical service until their last breath.

May we remember them for their unrelenting service and for their undying passion towards their medical profession.

1.Dr. Salvacion “Sally” Rodriguez-Gatchalian, President of the Philippine Pediatric Society

Dr. Gatchalian was the president of the Philippine Pediatric Society (PPS), the older sister of TV actress Ruby Rodriguez, and also served as the assistant director at the Research Institute of Tropical Medicine that houses the country’s lone testing center for COVID-19.

In a post written by her colleague, Dr. Edsel Maurice Salvana, the doctor honors Dr. Gatchalaian in a heartwarming tribute. “Ma’am Sally wasa mentor, friend, and cheerleader to countless physicians and ID specialists. We shall carry your lessons with us in fighting the virus tooth and nail. Paalam Ma’am Sally at maraming salamat.”

Dr. Sally Gatchalian died on March 26, 2020.
