The Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) on Thursday said it has inaugurated two mosques and other infrastructure projects in Marawi City.

In his three-day visit to the war-torn city, TFBM chairperson Secretary Eduardo del Rosario led the ceremonial opening of the Marinaut Mosque and the White Mosque.

Del Rosario also graced the ribbon-cutting ceremonies for Marawi’s four village complexes in barangays Datu Naga, Datu Dansalan, Moncado Kadingilan, and West Marinaut.

“Progress comes from effective governance, which in part could be achieved through the establishment of these barangay complexes,” del Rosario, also the country’s housing czar, said during the inauguration ceremony in Barangay Datu Naga on Thursday.

He said each barangay complex is equipped with a madrasah (Islamic school) and a health center.

“This is in line with the government’s efforts to providing quality education and healthcare services to Marawi residents affected by the 2017 siege,” he said.

With the provision of a madrasah and health center for each barangay complex, del Rosario assured that the youth will be provided with a quality education while citizens will enjoy access to medicine and health services, especially amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Del Rosario said the TFBM is committed to pushing through President Rodrigo Duterte’s order “to fast-track the government-led rehabilitation of the war-torn Marawi City.”

During his visit, del Rosario inspected the construction of two permanent shelter sites in barangays Patani and Kilala.

Del Rosario also attended public consultations with civil society organizations that were tapped as the government’s third-party monitoring for Marawi rehabilitation.

He earlier said all horizontal and vertical projects in Marawi will be finished by December this year.

The TFBM was created under Administrative Order 3 issued by Duterte on June 28, 2017, following the declaration of the government’s triumph against the terrorist groups.

The task force has been directed to facilitate the rehabilitation, recovery, and reconstruction efforts in Marawi and help displaced families recover from the tragedy brought about by the May 2017 siege. (PNA)
