Vanessa de Jesus, a Filipina-American Gilas prospect, is getting ready for her second year at Duke University.
She was the first Asian Player to suit in the said program and successfully kicked off her rookie year with an average of 12 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists.
In an Instagram post, De Jesus shared her 2nd year with Duke University, “Enjoying every moment #year2,” she said while flaunting her number 2 jersey.
De Jesus opened her Duke career in stellar fashion. She became the first Duke freshman to start at guard in their first game since Mikayla Boykin in 2017 and was the 30th Duke freshman to start her first collegiate game.
Despite being cut in the first season due to COVID-19, she is now ready to embrace a bigger role with her versatility and experience that can bring up success to the team. De Jesus is looking to impress WNBA Scouts and uplift her draft stock as the season progresses.
Duke University will face Wingate in their season opener on November 4.
