Known as one of the filming locations of the award-winning film “Notting Hill”, the “Blue Door” has become one of the tourist spots in London. After 23 years, how is it now?

The 1999 romantic comedy movie, “Notting Hill,” starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant was recorded as one of the highest-grossing British films after its release and has been nominated and awarded a couple of times.

Considering the movie’s rise in the industry, many fans and other tourists have searched for its filming locations and one of these is the famous blue door at Westbourne Park Road in London.

The said famous movie spot is a door for a real-life flat in London that costs over £1.3 million and continuously increased its price after the success of the movie.

In 2018, “Notting Hill” lead star Hugh Grant revisited the blue door and reminisced about the scenes that were taken in that location.

“The last time I came through this, there were a lot of press people outside,” Hugh Grant said while remembering the scene when his character was crowded by the media in the film.

The original blue door that was used in the movie was replaced by a replica as the actual piece was auctioned for a charity; hence, tourists are still willing to visit the filming spot.

Despite its adored simplicity and beauty because of its appearance in the movie, the “Blue Door” was not exempted from people who wanted to ruin such a remarkable piece.

During his trip, Vonj Tingson shared a photo of the door on his Facebook account when he visited the famous spot last November 9, 2022.

“Sad day. We went to see the famous “Blue Door” in Notting Hill. We saw it got vandalized,” he captioned on his post.

He was able to ask a local resident who came to clean the door and said that the vandal was only done recently by unknown people.

Regardless of the ruined blue door, Tingson was still delighted to see the famous landmark during his trip.
