The Department of Education (DepEd) in the Ilocos Region is urging parents or guardians and learners in Kindergarten, Grades 1, 7, and 11 in public schools to participate in the early registration from March 25 to April 30.

In a phone interview on Monday, DepEd Ilocos Region Public Affairs Unit head Cesar Bucsit said the registration is in preparation of the DepEd for the school year 2022-2023.

“So DepEd could anticipate the necessary preparations like the number of chairs and other needed resources for the resumption of classes for another school year,” he said.

Buscit said the early registration is done in person as the entire Ilocos Region is now at Alert Level 1.

He, however, encouraged the parents and guardians to strictly observe the minimum public health standards.

“The learners who availed of the early registration would lessen the hassle of enrolling on the actual start of classes,” he added.

Meanwhile, the incoming Grades 2 to 6, 8 to 10, and 12 are considered pre-registered for the next school year, thus there is no need for them to enlist for the early registration.

Although vaccination was not required for learners, Bucsit urged them to get jabs for their protection and other people against the virus.

The school year 2021-2022 will end on June 24 and graduation ceremonies may be held between June 27 to July 2. However, the schedules are still subject to changes. (PNA)
