The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has approved the creation of a total of 175 faculty plantilla positions for the Mindanao State University (MSU) System.
DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman on Sept. 17 approved the Notice of Organization, Staffing, and Compensation Action (NOSCA), authorizing the release of an estimated Personnel Services (PS) requirement of PHP39.217 million for the creation of about 175 Instructor I positions.
The new Instructor I posts will augment the need for teachers in the 12 secondary schools within the MSU System, the DBM said in a statement on Tuesday.
“The newly created Instructor I positions will provide opportunities for aspiring educators across the MSU campuses. These positions are essential for addressing the growing demand for qualified faculty members within the region,” it said.
Also on Sept. 17, Pangandaman approved the request to issue NOSCA for the creation of 100 Assistant Professor IV positions for MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology (IIT), with an estimated PS requirements of PHP81.110 million.
The DBM said creating the Assistant Professor IV posts will help address the immediate need for qualified faculty at this level, given the significant increase in enrollment and academic programs of the MSU.
It said the issuance of NOSCA is a testament to the Marcos administration’s commitment to providing quality education across all regions, especially underserved areas.
“These initiatives are expected to enhance faculty development and capacity-building efforts within the MSU System, ensuring that it remains a premier institution for education in Mindanao,” the DBM said.
Pangandaman said the government would continue supporting, enhancing, and strengthening the MSU system, stressing that filling the staffing gaps in the university is a crucial step in elevating the quality of education in Mindanao and giving students access to top-tier learning opportunities. (PNA)
