Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, on Tuesday commended local police personnel who constructed a daycare center for residents in Matanao, Davao del Sur.

Eleazar said the policemen built the daycare center in Sitio Talambato in the town’s Asbang village so that kids no longer need to travel far just to go to school.

“Ang proyektong ito ay nagpapakita ng tunay na malasakit at mabuting intensyon ng ating kapulisan para makatulong sa mga kabataan. Bukod sa pagbibigay seguridad sa publiko, maaasahan din ang ating mga pulis sa ganitong mga gawain kahit labas na sa kanilang sinumpaang tungkulin (This project shows the real concern and good intentions of our police to help the youth. Apart from providing security to the public, our police are also reliable in such activities even if these are not included in their sworn duties),” Eleazar said in a statement.

Eleazar expressed hope that this kind of gesture further reinforces the youth’s trust and confidence that PNP personnel will always be looking out for their welfare.

“Ang kapulisan ay kakampi at kaagapay ng kabataan para sa maunlad na buhay (Police are allies of the communities and youth for a prosperous life),” said Eleazar.

The PNP, he said, has been looking for the “little things” that the police force can brag about to the community and further strengthen the work that every police unit does in the service of the Filipino people.

Eleazar also said his intensified cleanliness policy for all police offices and stations is a doable program and an important factor in changing the image of the organization. (PNA)
