The Commission on Election in Davao Region (Comelec-11) has recorded over 60,000 voter applications for the December 2022 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, an official said Wednesday.

Lawyer Gay Enumerables, Comelec-11 acting regional director, took note of the significant increase in the number of voters since they opened the registration on July 4.

Of the total figure, the most number of registrations were from voters belonging to the 15-17 years old demographic with 20,342 registrations.

Voters between 18-30 years old have 12,970 total registrations, while those who are 31 years old and above listed 1,582 new voters. There were also 7,764 new voters registered due to a change of address, the agency said.

Enumerables said Comelec-11 will also cater to those who will reactivate their voter registration and change or correct their entries.

“We should end the habit of waiting up to the last minute because if something else comes up, we have no more time to register, and we lose our right to vote,” she said.

Most of those who reactivated their voting rights only learned of their delisting during the May 9 elections, she added.

As of Wednesday, the total number of applications processed on reactivation and correction of entries has reached 48,951. (PNA)
