The local government is set to enhance public service efficiency at City Hall and expand its reach to communities, according to Mayor Rolando Uy.
During the resumption of work on Monday, Uy announced that employees and consultants under contractual or job order status will be terminated by the last day of June, subject to review and evaluation.
Regular employees and officials may be transferred to other offices or relocated to other stations within the city to maximize their performance and the effective execution of programs under his administration.
“There will be no more padrino or padrina (patronage) system. I do not want a department manager to defend an employee merely because he or she recommended them,” Uy said, emphasizing that future employment decisions will be based strictly on merits and credentials.
Other key announcements for July included the resumption of services to communities and expanded People’s Day program.
The reelected mayor likewise appealed for public support in implementing the Solid Waste Management program, specifically urging households to practice segregation that can reduce overall garbage volume. (PNA)
