The National Irrigation Administration in Agusan del Norte (NIA-ADN) turned over on Friday a PHP14-million irrigation project to the Tagabaca-Aupagan Irrigators Association, Inc. here.

The project, including three solar-powered pumps, will benefit not only the 15 members of the association but also rice farmers in neighboring communities in Barangay Tagabaca.

In a statement on Friday, the NIA-ADN said that the irrigation project will provide water services to at least 25 hectares of rice farms.

Reynaldo Cabahug, the association president, said the project will help increase the yields and income of members.

At the same time, the irrigation will ease the workload of farmers while ensuring that crops receive adequate water.

“We are thankful to the government, especially to the NIA, for this invaluable support. The provision of a modern irrigation system powered by solar energy is a game-changer for us,” Cabahug said. (PNA)
