Police, military and other personnel tasked to secure the opening ceremony of the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games held on Thursday a full deployment rehearsal to ensure the safety of the athletes, delegates and spectators of the biennial regional meet.

The opening rites will be held at the Philippine Arena, a 55,000-seater indoor stadium located within the Ciudad de Victoria in Bocaue in this province on November 30.

Police Col. Chito Bersaluna, provincial director of the Bulacan Police Provincial Office and commander for Bulacan cluster of Task Group Central Luzon, said a total of 1,154 personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP), 138 from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), 132 from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), 205 from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRMMO), 130 force multipliers and 327 personnel from Ciudad de Victoria will be deployed.

They will secure over 10,000 athletes and delegates from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Timor Leste, Singapore, Vietnam, and the Philippines.

With the expected influx of people to watch the parade of athletes and delegates, Bersaluna said they will implement a truck ban to avoid traffic congestion starting midnight of Nov. 29 to 11:59 p.m. of Dec. 1 in Meycauayan City and in the towns of Marilao, Santa Maria and Bocaue.

“Spectators and guests will be transported by designated point-to-point buses to the Philippine Arena to avoid traffic congestion,” he said.

Bersaluna said they established police assistance desks, motorist assistance desks in strategic areas, points of entry and exit along North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and within the perimeter of the Philippine Arena.

He said police presence and visibility have been heightened to address all possible needs and queries of the participants and delegates of the biennial meet. (PNA)
