A village in North Cotabato’s town of Pigcawayan that now forms part of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) is a recipient of a PHP25-million public market from the regional government.

In an interview on Tuesday, Naguib Sinarimbo, BARMM interior minister, said the officials of Barangay Datu Binasing in the Pigcawayan Cluster of the Special Geographic Area (SGA)-BARMM in North Cotabato received the facility on Monday.

“The market, strategically located in the interior part of Pigcawayan, will create jobs and business opportunities for the locals, boost local government revenue and create new avenues for community development, especially in the business sector,” Sinarimbo said.

He underscored the need to create opportunities for the BARMM government to maintain peace and stability.

“When we give the community members a chance to provide services to the community through the government, we are giving them a fair chance of income. This is the secret to good governance,” he said.

Sinarimbo said more plans are underway for developing villages under the SGA-BARMM, which comprises 63 villages in six towns of North Cotabato that opted to join the fledgling BARMM during a two-part plebiscite in 2019. (PNA)
