It’s official! After 4 decades of being a part of Pasig City, President Rodrigo Duterte has signed Republic Act No. 11475, which legally transfers Antipolo City from its former area to the Rizal province.

According to House Bill No. 2998, doing so “shall be deemed as the official provincial government center where all the provincial offices shall be established.” The law shall take effect 15 days after its publication.

The Explanatory Note, which was issued in 2019, also states that the main reason behind the now-approved proposal is due to Rizal’s accessibility and location.

Pasig was first declared as Rizal’s capital in 1901, but was eventually included in Metro Manila in 1974.

Antipolo is home to tourist spots such as Pinto Art Museum, Hinulugang Taktak, and Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage.
