Maureen Montagne, a Philippine favorite, was crowned Miss Globe 2021 in Albania on Saturday, edging ahead of 49 other contestants. This is the third time for the Philippines to claim the crown, after Maricar Balagtas and Ann Colis bagged the acclaimed title in 2001 and 2015 respectively.

“After 6 long years, we did it Philippines!” Montagne posted a short video clip of some of her stunning shuts on Instagram, following her embarking moment as Miss Globe 2021.

“Thank you for the outpouring of love and support. As many of you know this journey was long and hard with the pandemic and life’s hardships. As many of you know this journey was long and hard with the pandemic and life’s hardships. We competed in @bbpilipinasofficial for almost two years and getting to the @themissglobe stage was such memorable journey. All of our efforts were worth it, my heart is so full of gratitude! All of the work, the wishing, the waiting, and the praying has finally paid off,” the queen added.

“Do you think beauty is a merit and how can we enrich it with other values?” Maureen Montagne was asked during the pageant’s question-and-answer session.

“I think that true beauty comes from within. To be a Miss Globe is to be a beauty that inspires. What makes us beautiful is our smiles, it is what we do for our community, it is how we give back to others, and it is how we carry ourselves through lives,” the Filipino candidate responded.

She went on to add, “I believe that everyone has beauty inside of them and I believe it is our duty to share it with the world and to give back and to truly inspire others”.

The professional model and host is considered a pageant veteran. In 2019, she placed first runner-up at the Miss Eco International pageant and was later offered the main title when the grand winner was dethroned. Montagne politely declined such succession and went on to join the 57th Binibining Pilipinas to win Bb. Pilipinas-Globe.

Montagne, who was born and raised in the United States, has previously held the titles of Miss Arizona USA 2015, Miss USA 2015 (Top 15), and Miss World America 2017 First Runner-Up, as well as other local titles such as Mutya ng Pilipinas 2013 First Runner-Up and Miss Eco Philippines 2018.

Montagne’s triumph comes only a week after Cinderella “Cindy” Faye Obeita took home the Miss Intercontinental 2021 crown in Egypt.
