Taiwan’s Bureau of Consular Affairs announced the extension of the trial visa-free entry program for nationals of Thailand, Brunei, and the Philippines. This decision, confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, extends the visa-free entry period for Philippine passport holders from August 1, 2024, to July 31, 2025.

This program allows Filipino tourists to stay in Taiwan for up to 14 days without the need for a visa. The extension is part of Taiwan’s efforts to promote the New Southbound Policy, which aims to strengthen bilateral exchanges and attract tourists while maintaining border security.

The visa-free travel program for Philippine passport holders was first launched on November 1, 2017, and has been extended annually since then. The most recent extension was originally set to expire on July 31, 2024.

With this extension, Filipino travelers can continue to explore the vibrant culture, delicious cuisine, and stunning landscapes of Taiwan with ease. Whether it’s enjoying a cup of milk tea in Taipei or exploring the beautiful natural scenery, Taiwan welcomes Filipino visitors with open arms.

Requirements to prepare for Filipinos:

While the visa requirement is waived, Filipino travelers are still required to bring the following documents for their trip to Taiwan:

  • Passport with over six months validity
  • A confirmed return ticket
  • Proof of accommodation or hotel booking
  • Host and sponsor’s contact information in Taiwan
  • Sufficient travel funds

For more information and updates on travel requirements, please visit the Taiwan Bureau of Consular Affairs website.
