Mayor-elect Sebastian Duterte vowed to continue protecting the well-being of Dabawenyos as he took his oath at the Sangguniang Panlungsod here Monday.

In his speech, Duterte also assured the effective and full implementation of the laws of the city for the welfare of the Dabawenyos.

“My mandate is clear, to protect and promote the welfare of the general public, and I will do everything I can within the boundaries of the law to deliver this mandate,” he said.

The Presidential son also assured that businesses in the city will continue to thrive, job opportunities would be available, and that Dabawenyos will remain safe and healthy.

“To our partners from the business community, the local government is open and ready to listen to your suggestions and to work with you in enhancing the business climate in the city,” Duterte said.

He said red tape and “fixing” must end and urged the Dabawenyos to report them to the authorities.

“Davao City fully supports the implementation of the ease of doing business law. The transacting public deserves the best public service experience,” he said.

Meanwhile, Duterte said the city government will also continue to implement policies streamlining government processes.

“Inefficiency in local government shall not be tolerated. All public servants must uphold the highest level of honesty, professionalism, and excellence in governance,” he said.

President Rodrigo Duterte and Vice President-elect Sara Z. Duterte witnessed the oath-taking.

“Thank you for taking the chance of serving our kababayans with confidence, honesty, and integrity,” President Duterte told local officials who took part in the May 9 elections. (PNA)
