The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao’s (BARMM) agriculture office is taking one step forward to strengthen halal (permissive) promotion compliance in the region.
Engineer Saidona Lawam, a senior agriculturist at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR), said the latest project sought to provide halal feeds to promote halal-compliant poultry and fish production areas in the region.
Lawan, also the focal person for MAFAR halal development program, noted that the regional government is building a PHP1.99 million worth of small-scale halal feed mill at Barangay Muti, Guindulungan in Maguindanao. It is expected to be completed in 100 days.
“We proposed this project to ensure that we can provide and maintain halal compliant products starting from farm to plate,” Lawan said in a statement Tuesday.
He said the halal feed mill building has 150 square meters, capable of storing 500-600 sacks of feeds.
Datu Harabas Midtimbang, Guindulungan municipal administrator, lauded MAFAR for the continued program in their area, especially on the halal development program.
“This is a big help for us to have a halal feed mill project that will ride in with our vision to be an Islamic center municipality,” he said. (PNA)
