The Department of Public Works and Highways in Bicol (DPWH-5) has completed a total of 1,326 infrastructure projects across the region in 2021.
“Those projects will provide necessary facilities and ensure the safety and convenience of Bicolanos amid the ongoing battle against coronavirus disease (Covid-19),” the DPWH-5 said in a social media post.
It added that DPWH Regional Director Virgilio C. Eduarte facilitated the construction, maintenance, rehabilitation, and widening of 216 roads with a total length of 188.2 kilometers, 45 permanent bridges, and 129 flood mitigation structures with an overall length of 69.26 kilometers.
Some 877 local programs which include five national building program projects, two school buildings, 340 local and national roads, nine local bridges, 95 flood control and drainage structures, 393 multi-purpose buildings and structures, and 33 water management facilities were also accomplished.
Meanwhile, in partnership with other government agencies, a total of 169 projects were also completed consisting of farm-to-market roads, access roads to airports, seaports, tourism destinations, economic zones, school buildings and facilities, and various infrastructure, all in support of national security.
Despite the restrictions due to the pandemic, DPWH-5 said it will continue to do its best to deliver more significant projects for the region and the country’s economic growth and recovery. (PNA)
