The provincial government of Bataan on Thursday announced the opening of the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility (TTMF) of the Mariveles District Hospital in the Freeport Area of Bataan here.

Governor Albert Garcia said the 76-bed capacity TTMF located at the Standard Factory Building 13 hangar will cater to asymptomatic and mild cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

“Asahan po ninyo na mas palalawigin pa natin ang kakayanan ng nasabing pasilidad upang maging isang ganap na extension field hospital ng Mariveles District Hospital na mayroong intensive care unit (ICU) na makatutugon sa iba pang pangangailangang medikal ng mga pasyente. (You can expect that we will be expanding the capability of this facility to fully become an extension field hospital of the Mariveles District Hospital with an intensive care unit that could respond to the other medical needs of patients),” Garcia said in a social media post.

The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB), Philippine Red Cross, Department of Health, provincial government, and office of the second congressional district of Bataan signed on January 25 the memorandum of agreement (MOA) to fully support the operation of the facility.

The signatories were Governor Garcia, second district Rep. Jose Enrique Garcia III, DOH-Central Luzon director Dr. Corazon Flores, Bataan DOH officer Dr. Francisco Hermoso, AFAB administrator Emmanuel Pineda, Red Cross Bataan chapter administrator Charlie Gatbonton and Mariveles District Hospital chief Dr. Hector Santos.

The Philippine Red Cross provided the facility with equipment including hospital beds, tents, oxygen tanks, among others.

“Maraming salamat sa Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan, Philippine Red Cross, at Department of Health sa pakikipagtulungan sa ating Pamahalaang Panlalawigan at sa Mariveles District Hospital upang maisakatuparan ito at makapagbigay ng de kalidad na serbisyong pangkalusugan sa ating mga kababayan (Thank you very much to the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan, Philippine Red Cross and Department of Health for their collaboration with the provincial government and the Mariveles District Hospital to carry out and provide quality health services to our provincemates),” the governor said.

As of January 25, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the province is 35,393 with 2,828 active infections.

Some 31,295 patients have recovered, but 1,270 succumbed to the virus. (PNA)
