The renovated Manila Zoo will be used as a vaccination site for minors aged 12 to 17 years old and senior citizens.

The newest vaccination site is the city’s 58th, to add to the three malls, six schools, and 45 health centers that administer primary and booster shots, while booster shots are also given at the Kartilya ng Katipunan monument drive-thru for motorcycle and bicycle riders, 24/7 drive-thru for four-wheel vehicles at the Quirino Grandstand, and the Bagong Ospital ng Maynila for public utility vehicle drivers.

The Manila Zoo will accommodate a maximum of 1,000 daily by schedule, including the companions, and they are also allowed to roam around free of charge from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The minors may avail of primary doses and the elderly their booster shots.

Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said in a press conference at the city hall on Tuesday that those who will go to the Manila Zoo may opt to have their vaccine first before going around the zoo or may do so while waiting for their turn.

“May makikita na silang konting hayop lalo na sa aviary tapos meron na hebra, ‘yung horse at zebra na crossbreed. Ang ganda, kulay brown. Tapos ‘yung butterfly garden marami ng pwedeng puntahan (They can already see a number of animals especially at the aviary, and then they will see the hebra or the crossbreed of horse and zebra. It’s beautiful. There is also the butterfly garden. There are already many places to visit there),” he said.

Unlike in other sites, Manila Zoo will not entertain walk-ins.

Registration must be made at manilazoo.ph for free entrance and at manilacovid19vaccine.ph to get vaccinated.

Bringing in of food and water is allowed as there are no food stalls yet but visitors must be responsible for waste disposal.

As of Monday, Manila has administered 241,844 Covid-19 doses for minors aged 12 to 17, with 111,392 already fully vaccinated.

A total of 273,341 have also received booster doses.

Overall, the city has injected 3,148,898 doses, with 1,527,311 with complete doses. (PNA)
