This project was a result of the pandemic lockdown by founders Roy Maceda, wife Roann Maceda and Dennis Ravago as the graphic design lead. As transportation problem arise, our triathlete spirit kicks in. The concept is to collect old or unused bike parts from donors to be repaired, refurbish and rebuild to a whole new functional bike to given for free to our Kababayans in need of transportation assistance especially our Medical Frontliners. From Quezon City it also expanded to have different hubs like in Pampanga, La Union, Malabon and Manila. Different organizations helped to open their hubs to support their local kababayan reaching different provinces such as Pangasinan, Guimaras, Bacolod and Catanduanes.

As advocates of sustainability, wellness and resourcefulness we reduce environmental impacts by engaging to community activities such as road bike safety projects and bike safety webinars. We’ve donated several Emergency Bike Repair Stations with React Ready Philippines along the streets of Quezon city to aid our bike commuters in their daily ride. We also had a Blood donation drive in Project 4 Quezon City together with Wilderness Search and Rescue Philippines with Roy Maceda as their P.R.O for the Philippine Children’s Medical Center patients. As bike community is continuously growing the team participated in the recently concluded Metro Manila Counts to collect data on the alternative mobility medium of metro manila during the pandemic and lastly they’ve conducted a virtual bike challenge called “PadyaKalikasan” to support the Philippine crocodile conservation of Crocodylus Porosus Philippines Inc. as charity institution.

Our team also supported during the Typhoon Ulysses and Typhoon Rolly efforts providing truckloads of food packs to Rizal, Bulacan and Cagayan province and some along Quezon avenue and España Manila.

BFEJ was also able to share their advocacy thru various media outlets like GMA 24 oras, One Balita Ph TV5, Super radio DZBB 594kHz, Radio Bandido DZRJ, All about wheels manila vlog, Carl E. Balita READY 101, a 2 part documentary with GMA front row entitled “Padyak ng pag-asa”, Webcast with The Climate Reality Project Philippines and an awardee of Manuel Luis Quezon Gawad Parangal 2021.

We are now currently tapping with different organizations to further expand they reach for bike parts so they can provide to more Filipinos around the Philippines.
