A village in this town was placed under total lockdown after two residents tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

As stated under Municipal Executive Order No. 13, Barangay Panginay was put under total lockdown starting Thursday noon until the early morning of July 3.

Barangay chairman Rolando Santiago advised his constituents not to go out of their respective houses.

“Wala na pong papayagang makalabas-pasok sa ating barangay. Lahat po ng namamasukan na hindi taga Panginay hindi na po muna kayo makakapasok o makakauwi. Stay home. Lahat po ay hindi na papayagan pang lumabas (No one will be allowed to get in or out of our village. All those working who are not residents of Panginay will not be allowed to enter or go home for the meantime. All must stay home and must not leave their houses),” Santiago said.

Darwin David, provincial director of the Department of the Interior and Local Government in Bulacan, said local government units (LGUs) can declare a lockdown based on the situations in their localities.

He said several LGUs have asked them about declaring lockdown in their respective places.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Health Office reported that as of Wednesday, there are nine new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the province, bringing the total number to 332, of which 122 are active.

There are also 176 recoveries and 34 deaths. (PNA)
