The Philippine National Police (PNP) received medical supplies and basic health commodities donated by the Department of Health for police front-liners helping in the fight against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

PNP chief Gen. Archie Gamboa thanked Health Secretary Francisco Duque III for the agency’s support to the police force.

“These medical supplies are indeed a great help to our front-liners and other personnel to protect themselves and mitigate the virus,” Gamboa said in a press statement Thursday.

The PNP General Hospital received the medical supplies on Tuesday, which consist of personal protective equipment (PPE) sets, N95 protective masks, alcohol, surgical gloves and isolation gowns to be distributed to PNP front-liners.

Meanwhile, the PNP Health Service confirmed that three more police officers tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday, bringing the total number of cases in the police force to 25.

These include three males, aged 26, 28 and 39, all from Calabarzon.

The PNP Health Service has so far recorded a total of 276 personnel as patients under investigation, which consist of 68 Police Commissioned Officers (PCO), 196 Police Non-Commissioned Officers (PNCO) and 12 Non-Uniformed Personnel (NUP).

Meanwhile, a total of 1,351 personnel are listed as persons under monitoring, which include 334 PCO, 963 PNCO, and 54 NUP. (PNA)
