With the COVID-19 pandemic affecting everybody, one cannot deny that the unsung heroes of this crisis are the frontliners and the healthcare workers as they literally risk their lives by fighting the deadly disease upfront.
Among them are doctors Shiela Marie L. Afal and Jeanne Mae L. Afalla, who are already doing more than enough, yet still managed to exert more.
Doctors Shiela and Jeanne are medical workers who produce facemount shields through a 3D printer. However, according to their Facebook entry, the 3D printer run out of filaments so they are appealing for financial or material help in order to reach their goal.
Filaments serve as the “ink” of 3D printers. 1 kilogram ranges from ₱800 to ₱1,000. As of March 23, they have created 104 faceshield mounts that they distribute for free.
Just a few days after the Facebook entry, Dr. Shiela updated that they have received over 4,000 PVC sheets as donations already.
Doctors Shiela and Jeanne are testaments that we can do something more. Now that we live in the digital age, everything is within our reach, including lending a helping hand.
