Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has tested positive for coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19)

On March 22, the former senator had himself checked after exhibiting symptoms of the deadly disease. He has been “unwell” after a trip from Spain last March 13. There have been claims that he transmitted pneumonia there, as well.

“He came back from Spain unwell… Getting better at home,” sister Senator Imee Marcos, said to the media via text message on Thursday. Rumors also surfaced that Bongbong was already intubated in a hospital at the time, to which she dismissed.

‪”Nasa bahay, gumagaling, kumakain‬,” she added.

A few days later, Bongbong’s spokesperson, Atty. Victor Rodriguez, confirms that he is diagnosed with the disease. Bongbong’s health is recovering, according to the lawyer.

“GUMAGANDA na ang kondisyong pangkalusugan ni dating Sen. Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos, Jr. makaraang ihayag sa resulta ng clinical test na isinagawa ng Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) na siya’y positibo sa COVID-19,” Atty. Rodriguez stated.

As of March 31, Department Of Health has cited 2,084 cases of COVID-19 with 88 deaths and 49 recoveries.
