The City Council has requested the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and City Engineer’s Office to install safety signage along the 84-kilometer Maria Clara Lobregat Highway.

Councilor Rogelio Valesco, the author of the resolution containing the request, underscored Tuesday the importance of signage to guide motorists to safely travel to and from this city.

The resolution was approved Monday during a special session of the City Council.

Valesco said the city government has appropriated some PHP5 million for the installation of signage but the concerned agencies are moving at turtle-phase to undertake the project.

“If we travel along the highway, we see so many signage of a shopping mall, but not for road safety,” Valesco said.

The 84-kilometer Maria Clara Lobregat Highway is the main thoroughfare of this city to the other provinces in the region as well as Mindanao. (PNA)
