The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in Caraga Region (LTFRB-13) has lauded the quick compliance of various transport operators in the area with a directive that requires drivers to wear face masks.

LTFRB-13 OIC-director Maria Kristina Cassion said LTFRB Circular No. 2020-005 requires drivers and crew of public utility vehicles to “secure face masks and wear the same while performing their daily duties.”

“I appreciate the actions made by our transport operators and transport service cooperatives. We will also deploy our enforcers to make periodic checks among our drivers regarding the wearing of face masks,” Cassion told Philippine News Agency.

“It is stipulated in the terms and conditions of their franchise that operators of public transportations are mandated to provide safe public land transportation service to the commuting public,” she added.

The circular, issued on Thursday, also requires terminal operators to ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness in their premises as well as the provision of face masks and disinfectant and sanitizer dispensers for the free use of passengers.

She said LTFRB-13 will coordinate with the local government units (LGUs) in the region next week in relation to the compliance with the said circular.

Cassion noted that most of the public terminals in the region are operated by the LGUs. (PNA)
