Fourteen Australian investment funds and corporations will be in the country for a business mission next month, the Australian Embassy in Manila said.

According to the Embassy, the Australian Business Mission will be held in Makati City from Sept. 5 to 6.

“Australia’s Business Champion for the Philippines and Macquarie Group’s managing director and CEO, Ms. Shemara Wikramanayake, is leading the influential delegation of Australian institutional investors and corporates from the agribusiness, resources, infrastructure, and digital sectors,” the Australian Embassy said in a media advisory.

The delegation will be accompanied by Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Hae Kyong Yu, Austrade chief executive officer Xavier Simonet, and Export Finance Australia managing director and CEO John Hopkins.

“The delegation will meet with senior government officials, Philippine conglomerates, and Australian companies that have long-established and successful operations in the Philippines,” it added.

The Australian government announced last year that it would establish the Investment Deal Team in the Philippines to monitor the business climate and promote Australian investments in the Philippines.

Australian envoy Yu also said the Investment Deal Team will be looking for opportunities in the country to share with Australian businesses who are actively looking for local partners and to facilitate two-way investments. (PNA)
